Mary Ann Gyukin, 83

Mary Ann Gyukin, 83 of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully with her husband and daughters by her side on Feb. 18, 2018. Mary Ann grew up in Linden, N.J. where she met her high school sweetheart, Mickey Gyukin, at a football game. They married on May 23, 1953, and had two cherished daughters, Nancy and Charlene.

On a cold January day in 1965 they headed west, searching for a warmer climate. Mary Ann worked as a secretary for several large companies. In 1993, she retired from the City of Rocklin where she served as deputy city clerk and secretary to the city manager. She referred to herself as “Deputy Dog” due to her responsibility in issuing dog licenses. She is remembered as a dedicated public servant who loved people.

Upon retiring, they headed east to fulfill their lifelong dream to bask in the Florida sunshine. In Florida, she enjoyed a life of friendships, traveling, playing card and board games, taking in concerts and plays, and hosting dinner or dessert parties. Mary Ann’s interests also included shopping, puzzles, crafting, reading, trying new restaurants and making new friends while maintaining lifelong friendships. She loved to collect butterflies and angels.

After a decade of fun and leisure, they headed back west to Arizona to be nearer family. She longed to see her grandsons, Christopher and Lance, and enjoy her great-grandsons, Shane and Gage. She loved to have family get-togethers at holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. She also loved to pamper and spoil her precious little Bichon Frise, Lilli.

She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed. “Your love will light our way; your memory will ever be with us.”

Mary Ann’s wish is that there will be no services; her ashes will be placed at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A family get-together will be held sometime in the summer. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be sent to Hospice of North Idaho, Schneidmiller House, in Memory of Mary Ann Gyukin, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID, 83815. Online donations to Schneidmiller House can be made at www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org/donate.
