Local author night to feature Idaho Writers League

| February 22, 2018 12:00 AM

The Well-Read Moose Bookstore in Riverstone will host members of the Idaho Writers League North Idaho Chapter for their local author night at 6 p.m. on Friday. Members will present of “An Ounce of Truth- A Jewett House Anthology.” Contributing authors will read excerpts from the book, and books will be available for sale and signing.

“An Ounce of Truth” was recently featured in an article in Idaho Magazine, titled “House by the Lake.” Larry Telles, local long-time illustrator, author and CEO of Bitterroot Mountain Publishing, penned the article, outlining the history of the Jewett House and the centennial celebration that took place on Sept. 10 of last year.

“I wanted to give people an understanding of what was in the book, and then we had the celebration, which I took some photos of to send in for the article. I think they used about six of those. I just really wanted to (hopefully) make people aware that we do have some history here. The whole idea was to energize and sell some more copies of the book,” said Telles.

Idaho Magazine, based out of Boise, is a monthly sponsored publication of photos and articles submitted by freelance writers and photographers, and contains stories of Idaho’s history, heritage, recreation and adventure. An annual subscription is available, and all content is available online at idahomagazine.com.

Telles has plans for an upcoming article for the June edition, featuring the town of Dalton Gardens. He is gearing up to start his research, but speculates that comments he has heard regarding “infamous outlaws coming down from the hills” may not be the whole truth, given the flat terrain that is Dalton Gardens.

Copies of the book are available at the Well-Read Moose, the North Idaho Museum and the Jewett House. They can also be purchased directly from the Writers League by mailing a check for $13.00, payable to Idaho Writers League, to P.O. Box 1286, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83816.
