Retired educators group seeks members

| February 21, 2018 12:00 AM

Bill Brooks, consumer advocate, will be the featured speaker at the February meeting of North Idaho Retired Educators.

All retired educators are invited to attend the meeting on Monday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Post Falls Senior Center.

Lunch will be served by the Senior Center. To reserve a lunch, call Karen Melton, 208-773-1349.

The association meets the fourth Monday of each month, and is seeking members to enjoy the monthly programs and business meetings. Any retired teacher or administrator is welcome to join, and become a part of the Idaho State Retired Educators Association.

The group is encouraging any retired educator interested in joining to attend the Feb. 26 event as a guest and learn how to join.

A Garden Club program is planned for March. For April, a field trip to Palouse Falls is planned, and a legislative program is also being scheduled.

On Wednesday, April 11, the Lewiston chapter will host the region conference at the Red Lion.

Officers for the Region 1 NIREA are: Co-presidents Norma Seaton and Doug Cresswell, secretary; Mary Williams, and treasurer Ruth Spencer, with several standing committees.

Mona Alfrey was recently elected as President-Elect of the Idaho State Retired Educators, which means Coeur d’Alene will host the Idaho State Conference in two years.
