Marjorie Edwards, 67, of Ephrata, Wash., passed away at home on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. She was born in Lewiston, Idaho, in 1951, the fourth child of Evelyn and Douglas Edwards.

She spent her first five years in the Lewiston orchards playing outside with her brother, Dean Edwards and dog Gus. She moved to Coeur d’Alene when her father’s job moved there, and she began attending Coeur d’Alene schools. She played the flute and softball, and was a good student.

She enjoyed fishing, being on her family’s boat, swimming, being outside, camping, reading, writing and being with friends. She was a devoted friend, sister and daughter. She loved animals and had several over the years including dogs, cats, horses, ponies, chickens, pigeons, goats, bunnies, fish and guinea pigs.

She attended Eastern Washington University and was active in her social scene in college. She double majored in English and psychology and minored in social studies. She had several jobs after college, including working as a teacher’s aide in a math class, working for a mortgage company and working as a bus driver for Metro in Seattle. She had her daughter in August 1985, and thoroughly loved being a mother. She attained a master’s from Antioch University in counseling while working full time and being a single mother. She began working for Royal School District as a high school counselor in 1995 and was there for 19 years. She was dedicated, cared about her students, focused on getting students into college and loved her job.

After she retired, she moved to Ephrata, where she continued to substitute teach at neighboring schools in Ephrata, Soap Lake and Quincy. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the church and attended Assemblies of God in Spokane and Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata until her passing. During the last few weeks of her life, she suffered from illness and a compromised respiratory system.
