Dale L. Holst, 88

Dale L. Holst, born Oct. 21, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Feb. 18, 2018, peacefully in his apartment at Brookdale Senior Living in Sheridan, Wyo.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Jaqueline Holst; brother Halstead Holst and son Patrick Holst. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; brother Jack Holst of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother Stanley Holst of Dresden Tenn.; son Michael Holst of Wheatland, Wyo.; stepson Ray Caesar of Newell, Okla.; daughter Susan B. Ward of Lake Charles, La.; son Dr. Stephen Holst of Sheridan and daughter Linda Wilson of Waynesville, N.C.

He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1950 and Denver College of Law in 1955. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as an Infantry Platoon Leader earning a Combat Infantry Badge and Korean War Service Medal. He practiced law in Colorado for 50 years in Colorado Springs until his retirement in 2006. He continued to practice law with volunteer work in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was a life member of the El Paso County Bar Association (past president) and the Colorado Springs Rotary Club (past president). He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills LCMS in Rathdrum, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Martin Luther Grammar School, 1300 W. Fifth St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

Services for Dale will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul J. Cain officiating. Interment will be in Coeur d’Alene.
