Barbara C. Potter, 86

Heaven gained an angel. Barbara C. Potter, 86, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away surrounded by family on Feb. 12, 2018, at 9 a.m. at Kootenai Health.

Barbara was born in Somerset, England, to Herbert and Elsie Dunford. She is survived by her sister, Maureen Larmen of England. She also has many cousins, nieces and nephews in England.

She served in the Women’s Royal Air Force and worked in air traffic control. While in the service, she met her husband, Robert Potter. They moved to California and later to Coeur d’Alene. They were together 60 years before he passed away.

Robert and Barbara had five children: Dean Potter of California, Regina Alderman of Idaho, Cheryl Schoener of Idaho, Tracy Herrera of California and Steven Potter of Missouri. With this many children, you can only imagine the number of grandkids and great-grandkids, and she loved each and every one of them.

Barbara was independent, kind, loving and very giving. If you left her house there would always be something in your hands. She was the best baker and many people gained a few extra pounds because of her. Her cookie drawer was always full and her kids and grandchildren knew exactly where it was.

A small gathering will take place on a later date at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery to place her ashes in the wall next to her husband.

Heaven really did gain an angel. She will be greatly missed and a piece of our hearts will never be healed. ‘Til we meet again, we love you.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Barbara’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
