St. Maries falls in 2A consolation title game

KUNA — The St. Maries Lumberjacks led at halftime, but managed just 18 second-half points in a 52-48 loss to the West Jefferson Panthers in the consolation championship game of the state 2A girls basketball tournament Saturday at Kuna High.

St. Maries (16-8) led 30-18 late in the first half, and still led by six at the half.

Kaylee Auer had 13 points and five rebounds for the Lumberjacks, at state for the second straight year. Devyn Wilson added 12 points and five boards, and Kaci Haeg had eight points and eight boards.

Senior guard Allison Severe scored 22 points for West Jefferson (23-6), and junior guard Jordi Goldaway added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
