Cardinals fall at home to Big Bend

COEUR d’ALENE — Idaho transfer Tyler Brimhall had 16 points and 10 rebounds for North Idaho College in a losing effort, falling to the Big Bend Community College Vikings of Moses Lake 84-82 in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday.

NIC (19-6, 9-3 NWAC) had its six-game win streak snapped. The Cardinals remained tied with Walla Walla in first place in the East Region after the Warriors fell in other action on Wednesday.

Kolby Huerta had 20 points for Big Bend (14-11, 7-6), which lost to the Cardinals at home on Jan. 15.

NIC faces the Community Colleges of Spokane on Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College at 4 p.m. The Sasquatch, who lost at NIC 85-83 on Jan. 20, are third in the conference.

COEUR d’ALENE — Redshirt freshman Shae Logozzo scored 23 points off the bench for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference loss to the Vikings at Rolly Williams Court, snapping a six-game win streak.

Miranda Johnson scored 36 points for Big Bend (17-8, 7-6 NWAC), which finished the night 26 of 51 from the field.

Big Bend moves to within a half game of NIC for third in the East Region with four conference games remaining. NIC is on the road in three of its final four games this season, returning home on Feb. 28 to conclude the regular season against Wenatchee Valley.

Walla Walla (22-3, 12-0 NWAC) has clinched a playoff spot.

Whitney Meier and Sydney Hovde scored 14 points each for NIC (16-8, 7-5), which travels to face the Community Colleges of Spokane on Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College at 2 p.m.
