COEUR d’ALENE — Cierra Dvorak had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Chukars of Ontario, Ore., at Rolly Williams Court.

“We just gave them heck and they struggled to get anything going offensively,” said NIC coach Chris Carlson, whose team forced 37 turnovers in the game. “Our defensive effort was really good and CC (Dvorak) was able to get loose down the court and get to the rim and had a nice game in that respect.”

NIC extended its win streak to six games, outscoring Treasure Valley 22-5 in the third quarter.

“I was a little nervous,” Carlson said. “They started chipping back in the fourth and I was having flashbacks to last year (NIC led by 17 and lost the game), so I was a little fired up. We got a nice win and opened up a game lead on them. It was a nice step for us tonight.”

Ronnie Harris had 14 points and six steals for NIC (16-7, 7-4 NWAC), which hosts Big Bend of Moses Lake on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Cardinals are currently third in the East Region.
