North Idaho Christian wins third straight Mountain Christian League tourney title

PULLMAN — Garrett White had 21 points and 10 rebounds, leading North Idaho Christian to a 55-27 win over The Oaks of Spokane Valley in the championship game of the Mountain Christian League tournament, the program’s third straight conference tournament title.

“It’s been a very good run for us,” North Idaho Christian coach Shawn Thompson said. “We’ve been really blessed.”

Cross Pilgrim had 10 points, six rebounds and five assists for North Idaho Christian (29-1).

COEUR d’ALENE — Sam Matheson scored 17 points for the Vikings in a win over the Bulldogs at Elmer Jordan Court.

“I kind of challenged our guys at halftime on our defensive intensity,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Tony Hanna, whose team led 24-21 at halftime. “Tonight was senior night and I challenged them to focus a little more on both sides of the ball and felt like our intensity was better at both ends of the floor. The guys stepped up and played well. It was a good night all-around.”

Caleb Beggerly scored 12 points for Coeur d’Alene (10-9), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.

Robbie Johnson and Alex Stockton scored 12 points each for Sandpoint (6-14), which is off until the 4A Region 1 tournament on Feb. 19 at North Idaho College.

SPIRIT LAKE — Kaden Davis hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter and finished with 18 points as the visiting Hawks beat the Tigers.

Lakeland pulled away in the fourth quarter, extending a three-point lead with three straight 3-pointers.

“It was a good game,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “We were down three at the half, but they were able to pull away. They weren’t just any old 3-pointers (in the fourth quarter), they were from five to eight feet behind the 3-point line. They shot with confidence. It was just back and forth. Both teams worked hard.”

Colton Counts scored 22 points — 12 coming in the third quarter — for Timberlake (7-12), which hosts Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

Lakeland (11-6) hosts Lake City on Tuesday.
