Cheyrel Alaina Stevenson, 71

Cheyrel Alaina Stevenson passed away unexpectedly at home on Jan. 14, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 71.

Cheyrel is survived by her son, AJ (Tracy) Stevenson; granddaughters Mackenzie, Jazmyn and Lilyana Stevenson; brother James (Carolyn) Umland; half-brothers Virgil and Rex; step-mother Donna; step-sisters Faye, Robin, Lisa and Nancy; step-brothers Michael, Wallace, Rick, Gregory, Scott and Charles; many loving nephews, nieces and cherished friends; Margaret Woodall and her loving family and many more. Cheyrel is preceded in death by both parents and her husband, Daniel A. Stevenson.

Cheyrel was born in Kellogg, Idaho, to Virgil and Lucille Umland, graduating from Kellogg High School in 1964. She moved to San Jose, Calif., raised her son, AJ, and then eventually moved back home to be closer to family and friends. Cheyrel managed a Michaels Arts and Craft store, which offered her the opportunity to share her gift of imagination and creativity with customers and co-workers. Though she enjoyed her work, she chose to retire early and focus on her many hobbies. Cheyrel was an avid reader and loved curling up with her beloved cats, Zeus and Thor, as she delved into a good book.

One of Cheyrel’s greatest pleasures was hunting for unique antiques, especially with family and friends. Her antique collections are truly amazing! One could find a piece around every corner of her home and throughout her gardens. The pieces she collected always led to great, interesting topics of conversation.

Cheyrel’s garden was a true source of delight. She loved adding and tending to her abundance of roses and flowering plants, designing a truly unique place to wander and enjoy. All who had the pleasure to view, receive a bouquet, or stroll through her beautiful garden oasis have truly been blessed.

The holidays at Cheyrel’s home were truly a vision that will be missed. She simply loved decorating her home and found joy in making handmade gifts for family and friends, using Pinterest as one of her favorite sources for new, crafty ideas.

Cheyrel’s heart reached far beyond family and friends. She shared her kindness with others through volunteering at the Food Bank. She found great joy and satisfaction organizing and delivering the food personally to local families in Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. During the holidays, Cheyrel never missed the chance to serve meals at the local shelters in the community.

A celebration of Cheyrel’s life will be planned for later this summer. She will be dearly missed by many. In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Kootenai Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835.
