Governor to honor All-Idaho Academic team

| February 9, 2018 12:00 AM

Members of North Idaho College’s Phi Theta Kappa club have been tapped to be a part of the newly formed All-Idaho Academic Team, which will be recognized by Gov. Butch Otter.

Two of the three NIC students on the team will attend the Phi Theta Kappa Recognition Ceremony from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, on the second floor of the Capitol Building in the Ceremonial Office.

At the ceremony, Otter will present the PTK students from all three Idaho community colleges with academic medals of achievement.

Phi Theta Kappa is the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year schools.

The New Century Scholar nominees were selected by their respective colleges to compete with community college students across the nation in the Phi Theta Kappa New Century Pathway Scholarship program.

The student receiving the highest All-USA Academic Team application score in each state is named a New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar or a New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar.

The local PTK student representing NIC in Boise is Danielle Nickerson of Post Falls. Erica Case, an NIC student from Troy, Idaho will also attend. Audra Spencer, of Hayden, is unable to attend the ceremony.
