Stars collide in Boise

BOISE — The best of the best wrestlers from around the state took time out of the season to compete in the fourth annual Hall of Fame Classic at Bishop Kelly High.

Idaho Red, made up of wrestlers from the southern part of the state, beat Idaho Blue, comprised of wrestlers from the north.

Post Falls wrestlers Ridge Lovett (126 pounds) and Braydon Huber (160) each won by decision for Idaho Blue.

Lakeland’s William Edelblute also won by decision at 120.

Alex Edelblute (Lakeland), Sam Edelblute (Lakeland) and Hyrum Hunsaker (Sandpoint) lost by decision in their matches for Idaho Blue, which lost 29-28 to Idaho Red.

Lakeland wins title

at Bonners Ferry

BONNERS FERRY — The Hawks, with a mix of varsity and JV wrestlers, finished with seven champions to run away with the team title at the Bonners Ferry Invitational.

Chandler Axtell (113 pounds), Riley Siegford (120), Luke Hellem (132), Ryan Quimby (138), Cage Hendry (145), Logan Kelley (160) and Curtis Johnson (170) won titles for Lakeland, which finished with 196.5 points, followed by Post Falls with 149.5.

Braxton Mason (98), Nicholas McLeod (126), Wyatt Shelly (152) and Terran Sharbrough (285) won titles for Post Falls.

“We had a lot of young kids up there,” Post Falls assistant coach Jeremy Zender said. “It was a good chance for them to get some matches, and they really stepped up. We were really proud of them.”
