LOGGING: Comment on proposal

St. Joe District Ranger Mat Davis proposes to log 3 square miles in the Theriault, Kelly, Williams and Sewash Creek drainages a few miles south of Avery. The Idaho Panhandle Forest plan has identified much of these drainages as elk security areas where logging is not permitted. Ranger Davis will violate this forest plan standard. He plans to amend the forest plan to allow this elk habitat damage. He is taking comments on the proposed Brebner Flat timber sale until March 5.
