Glenn H. Frederiksen, 91

Glenn H. Frederiksen (“Freddie”), age 91, from Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on Jan. 31, 2018 at Hospice of North Idaho. Son of Herluf and Anna Frederiksen, Glenn was born on July 21, 1926 in Tyler, Minn. He married the love of his life, Harriet Bille, on Oct. 8, 1950 at Danebod Lutheran Church (also in Tyler, Minn.). Over the 67 years that Glenn and Harriet were married, they lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana and Idaho.

Glenn proudly served in the United States Army from February 1945 to December 1946, and while completing his overseas service, he received several decorations and citations. Glenn was a highly skilled carpenter and had a long and successful career as a building contractor.

Hunting and fishing were Glenn’s passion, as well as being a faithful fan of the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins. (His beloved pet dog, Tony, was named after Twins player, Tony Oliva). He was also a member of the American Legion for 72 years.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Harriet Frederiksen of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter Loretta Pontier and husband Jim of Spirit Lake, Idaho; daughter Janie Hirth of Helena, Mont.; daughter Colleen Oliver and husband Leonard of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren Erika Whinihan, Derek Hirth, Kristen Diede, Jeffrey Oliver, Dana Frederiksen and Erin Hirth; great-grandchildren Marques Davis, Allison Diede, Evan Hirth, Daniel Diede, Laeyla Brooks, Cameron Hirth and Ellis Whinihan; and sister Merna Steger-Graziano (who he adored) and brother Robert Frederiksen. Glenn was preceded in death by son Wayne Frederiksen and brother Don Frederiksen.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Dan Forsgren, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. His ashes will be buried at the State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash., at a later date.
