Salmon Feast raises $19,500 for Family Promise

| February 3, 2018 12:00 AM

Family Promise of North Idaho held its annual Northwest Fest and Salmon Feast on Jan. 26 to benefit homeless families in North Idaho.

This year’s event, held at the Coeur d’Alene Eagles club, netted $19,500, the greatest amount raised in the event’s history.

Event co-chairs Mary Ward and Cindy Algeo said the salmon was delicious, but they think it was a video of women’s stories detailing how their families’ lives were saved by Family Promise that made the biggest impression on guests.

The women said even the nonprofit’s best supporters seldom see the impact Family Promise has on its client families.

Family Promise provides guidance and support to families with children who need temporary food and shelter while seeking permanent employment and affordable housing.

The Family Promise Day Center and offices are located on the bottom floor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on the northeast corner of Fifth Street and Wallace Avenue. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information or to make a donation, call 208-777-4190.
