Nutting's victory helps Lake City top Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — Seth Nutting stepped up and scored a pivotal 11-6 decision at 160 pounds as the Lake City Timberwolves went on to beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 42-33 on Friday afternoon.

Nutting exacted some revenge against Sandpoint’s Isaiah Fleck in their third meeting of the season.

“That’s a kid that’s beat us twice, and he dominated the match. He made some big adjustments from last time, and got a huge confidence booster,” said Lake City coach Corey Owen, who also thought Caden Hess stepped up with a first-period pin in the final match of the dual. “It came down to the last match. With a dual meet on his shoulders, he took care of business.”

Sandpoint was without Hyrum Hunsaker, who was invited to take part in the Hall of Fame Classic in Boise today, where the two best wrestlers from all classes are picked in each weight for an all-star dual featuring the best in the state. Hunsaker will face Austin Ford from Bonneville at 170 pounds.

Lake City is scheduled to wrestle at the Bonners Ferry Invitational today.
