SOTU: Vision of America

Like many of you, I watched the State of the Union address Tuesday night. In an ideal world I would do away with both parties, Republican and Democrat. Instead of being loyal to their own party, they would be loyal to the people, all the people of the U.S.

Being an independent, I liked what the president said and yes I did vote for him, not because he was running as a Republican, but because of what I thought was a better vision for the country.

How could anyone watch the speech and not be disgusted with the many people who decided to sit down and protest. There were so many individual instances of pure party politics. How about when he talked about low black unemployment and all the Democrats just sat stoned faced. Oh yeah, good old face Nancy P. doing stuff with her mouth (yep, I am prejudice toward her).

Yes, there was way too much clapping on the Republican side, like everything the president said was the newest thing since sliced bread.

Yet the most egregious and repugnant thing was when the Democrats chose to sit when the president made reference to standing for the U.S. flag and “In God We Trust” comment.

If your loyalty to your party is more important than those two things, shame on you and shame on the people who placed you in office.

It’s no wonder nothing gets done, when you cannot agree on two basic principles for which our country stands.
