MILES CITY, Mont. — A 21-year-old woman shot to death last week in Montana has been identified as Shania Raymond, a Plains native who later moved to Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene.

Officials in Eastern Montana said the suspected shooter has been charged with deliberate homicide.

Custer County Justice of the Peace Donald Neese set bail at $500,000 for Travis Doss, 21, who was charged Monday with killing Raymond at a residence southwest of Miles City.

Officers who responded to the Jan. 25 shooting found Raymond dead and Doss with a gunshot wound to the head. He was treated at the hospital and arrested.

Doss did not enter a plea Monday. Court officials say his case was referred to the public defender’s office.

Raymond’s parents are Jimmy Raymond, of Coeur d’Alene, and Shela (Silverthorn) Herring. She was raised in Plains prior to moving with her father and brother to Idaho in the summer of 2008. She is a 2015 graduate of Lake City High School.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Plains Cemetery, 702 Clayton St., Plains, MT 59859.
