THANKS: Home on the range

| December 30, 2018 12:00 AM

Heartfelt thanks to the community for their incredible generosity!

As Lake City Center celebrates its 30th Anniversary, the realization set in that the facility was in need of extensive renovation and repairs. With more than 300 residents utilizing our facility and services each and every day, the wear and tear was becoming very apparent. During one recent week we had service technicians on site to repair our heating system, large freezer unit, and our commercial gas range.

Serving hot, delicious and nutritious meals four days per week, and delivering daily meals to more than 100 homebound and disabled seniors, replacing our 72-inch commercial gas range became the top priority. It was also the most expensive appliance to replace.

After Jan Noyes (Ombudsman Assistant with the Area Agency on Aging) mentioned our dilemma in a Letter to the Editor, the community responded immediately. Donations started arriving daily, and on Christmas Eve an anonymous donor walked in with a donation that enabled us to reach our goal, and proceed with the purchase of a new commercial gas range!

Hosting more than 75,000 guests each year, Lake City Center is now starting to show its age. But, thanks to the caring and benevolent residents and businesses of our community, you can rest assured that Lake City Center will continue moving forward, and making the upgrades and improvements necessary to meet the growing needs of our community!

Thank you; and best wishes to everyone for a healthy and prosperous New Year.
