ANNIVERSARIES

Mike and Kathy Reed

50th Anniversary

Mike and Kathy Reed, lifelong Coeur d’Alene residents, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 2018. They married in Boise after having to make adjustments for some no-show wedding party attendants as a result of the “big snow of 1968.”

Mike eventually became the parts department manager at Knudtsen Chevrolet from which he retired 13 years ago. Kathy stayed home to raise their two daughters, Brenda (Green) and Carrie (Wilson) before going to work for St. Vincent de Paul Social Services. There she made such an impression, they named a housing facility after her before she retired.

They recently moved with the help of their favorite sons-in-law, Mike and Ryan. Now they spend their time with their one grandson, Alex and three granddaughters, Kelsey, Emma and Parker when they aren’t cruising around in their 1970 Chevelle or joining friends for Thirsty Thursday (which hits all days of the week now).

Jeanne and Sandy Emerson

50th Anniversary

J. A. “Sandy” and Jeanne (Tanner) Emerson have been celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary during 2018. They were married Aug. 24, 1968, in a Spokane church by Rev. Ed Starr. Parents Tom and Alma Emerson, and Mildred and Bill Tanner hosted a reception for family and many friends, including Jeanne’s brother, John, who flew his Navy F-4 Phantom from Miramar to Fairchild AFB.

This summer family members and friends met to celebrate the special occasion at the Emerson family lake cabin on Aug. 24 this year. The Emerson children are Brian (Debbi Sherman) of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., Tanner (Elana Hall) of Spokane Valley and Susan (Aaron Kaiser) of Port Orchard, Wash. Grandchildren are Kaden (16), Tristan (8), Brett (15) and Bailey (7).

The couple recently attended an Emerson family reunion in Twin Falls, where their long union was honored. A spring trip is being planned.
