CHURCH: Writer passes judgment

| December 30, 2018 12:00 AM

I read with interest the Local section front page story on Christmas day titled “Church of Truth welcomes new minister.” ?

It amazes me how Pastor Dennis Ashley can say in one breath that he teaches there is only one God, yet seconds later mock His (God’s) very word. It is the belief of all evangelical Christians that the Bible is the true inspired writen word of God, that God NEVER changes and God cannot and does not lie. He is the same yesterday, today and forever... God does not ask us to be spiritual or religious, what he does ask of us is to repent of our sins, trust in the finished work completed by Jesus Christ on the cross, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.?

Pastor have you read Genesis 2 and 3 where Adam and Eve sinned and were thrown out of the Garden of Eden. Or, do you think that is just another fairy tale? That was the original sin in case you missed it.?

If your “church” Pastor Ashley doesn’t believe in original sin, and that’s what you say you teach, once again you call God a liar. If you teach that there are many ways to heaven once again you make God out to be a liar. Jesus whom God sent to earth, born of a virgin very plainly said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the father (God) EXCEPT through Me” (Jesus). That plainly says there are not many ways to heaven but only one. Acts 4-11 also says “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” NKJV.

You say you want people who come there to experiment and find the truth of themselves. Wouldn’t you serve your people better by showing them the truth of God’s word? I have an idea Pastor Ashley. Read the word of God, the Bible. All the answers you will ever need are there, no need to guess, experiment, or substitute your own ideas in place of God’s. Since you are shepherding your flock, I hope you know God will hold you to a much higher standard on judgment day when you bow before Him and proclaim “Jesus Christ is Lord.”?
