The Capaul family celebrated five generations in the spring of 2018 with the birth of Ava Rae.

Gary and Babs Klema
60th Anniversary
Gary and Babs Klema celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20, 2018. They have lived in Coeur d’Alene for eight years.
They have one son, Scott Klema of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They recently took a cruise to the Mexican Riviera in celebration of their special day.
John and Donna Schwandt
50th Anniversary
John and Donna were born in the same hospital only two days apart in October 1947 in the small Midwestern town of Decatur, Ill. John started chasing Donna in junior high school (when they were the same height) and dated throughout high school and college in spite of going to widely separated universities.
Donna graduated a semester early from Easter Illinois University, so they were able to get married in Decatur on Dec. 22, 1968, and then headed to Syracuse, where John graduated in May. Then they went to Minnesota, where they had their first child (John David) and John got a MS. John then joined the Navy and they spent the next three years at a U.S. Naval Base in Newfoundland, Canada (where they had their daughter, Lori).
In 1973, they moved to Moscow, where John worked on a Ph.D. and Donna a master’s degree. In 1976, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, where John worked as the State Forest Pathologist for the Idaho Department of Lands and Donna started a nearly 30-year teaching career.
They continue to love living in Coeur d’Alene, where they are actively involved with many friends and activities, plus helping care for John’s parents in a local assisted living center. It is hard to believe they have both retired as they assist in many programs at First Presbyterian Church and John supervises the Arbor Day program that has given out trees to all fourth-graders in the county for the past 36 years.
They are currently working on a “bucket list” of travel with good friends that has taken them to Yellowstone, Glacier, Yoho, Banff, and the Canyonlands of Utah. To avoid the hectic winter holidays, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June at Seaside, Ore., with their eight grandchildren. Even though John David, his wife, Tabithah and four children live in Bellingham, Wash., and Lori, her husband, Mat and their four girls live in Boise, they visit each several times a year to try to keep up with these amazing families. John likes to think that on the road of life, it’s not WHERE you go, but WHO you’re with that makes life so wonderful. We thank God for blessing our lives and marriage with such an abundance of joy and love.
EDUCATION
Dr. Julie Vieselmeyer, Ph.D., a 1999 graduate of Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene, is a clinical health and sport psychologist in Seattle. In June, she earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at Seattle Pacific University and completed internship at the Oklahoma Health Consortium. She also earned a master’s degree in sport and performance psychology from the University of Denver.
Dr. Vieselmeyer has served on the Executive Committee for the Society of Sport, Exercise, & Performance Psychology (American Psychological Association, Division 47) for the past four years and is president of the Running Psychologists. She also serves on the board for ZGiRLS, a sport-based youth development program, headquartered in the Seattle area.
In October, Dr. Vieselmeyer took on a new role at Swedish Medical Center’s Bariatric, Metabolic, and Endocrine Clinic, where she helps patients make health-related behavior changes, achieve weight loss goals and improve overall well-being.
