PASCO, Wash. — Gunner Giulio (160 pounds) and Dylan Moffat (106) went a perfect 5-0 on the day for Coeur d’Alene, which finished fifth in the duals portion of the Best of the West tournament on Friday at Pasco High.

Coeur d’Alene beat Eisenhower 70-6, Washougal 52-17, Tahoma 48-35 and Camas 38-35, with its lone loss coming against tournament champion Newberg (Ore.) 57-22.

“The kids wrestled hard all day,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “I was impressed with the effort all day. We wrestled hard against Newberg, but they’re a really good team. We’re getting better each match. We had Tri-State last weekend, so the guys are getting beat up a little bit, but I was pleased with the effort they put out there. Our guys are getting better, and we just need to keep doing what we’re doing.”

The tournament continues today with the bracketed tournament starting at 9 a.m. It is single-elimination until the final eight are determined.
