Marion Laursen Lysek, 90

Marion, daughter of Marius and Martha Laursen, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday evening, Dec. 18, 2018, at The Lodge Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is survived by loving children and their spouses: Sue, Karen, Christopher, Kristine, Kelvin, Goretti, Karla, Don, Kraig, Kurt, Kelly and Ronnie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Martin Lysek, and oldest son, Kenneth Martin “Marty” Lysek. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family.

Marion was born on Sept. 18, 1928, and grew up in Hemingford, Neb., on the family’s homestead. She spent much of her life in Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Thornton and Commerce City, Colo.

She loved being active and was always curious about everything around her. Where others may fret taking a wrong turn and getting lost, she always saw it as an opportunity for adventure and relished whatever was around the next corner. She also loved learning, reading, writing poetry and had a skilled talent for painting pictures of the beauty of her surroundings.

Her biggest legacy was a large family who benefited from her great and everlasting love and acceptance. She unintentionally taught, by example, to be determined and not to let challenges and hardships deter her. She possessed great energy, always moved forward and enthusiastically overcame adversity, putting her brilliance at achievement to the challenges of survival.

She loved all of life as much as she loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone. A memorial will be announced for a later date to include the many family and friends that are spread out across the country.
