ADVOCATE: For child victims
Over the next few weeks, most of us will celebrate the holidays with family and friends. We will reflect on what made us happy this past year, note the things we could have done better and set some new goals for 2019. It’s hard to think about not everyone having a holiday that is merry and bright; and even harder to imagine that there are kids who are alone with no hope going into the new year.
If volunteering is on your list of resolutions, advocating for child victims can be as rewarding as it is difficult. No one wants to admit that children are being abused and neglected right next door, but it is happening. As our community grows, so does the need for child advocates. North Idaho CASA has served well over 400 children this past year in abuse and neglect cases and the number is unfortunately growing.
Our CASA’s are a diverse group. They are retired educators, civil servants, cashiers, stay-at-home moms and millennials. No experience necessary. They are ordinary people that are making an extraordinary difference. Advocates are trained and supported by staff throughout the entire process. All YOU need is the resolution to make a difference and the heart to show these kids that you care. Advocate in 2019!
