DILEMMA: You bet there is

| December 19, 2018 12:00 AM

Saturday’s article “Development dilemma” is asking the city to consider imposing impact fees on developers for schools.

Question: Why has it taken so long for this to come up?

Of course there should be an impact fee and a big one. Is the city afraid of discouraging growth? Maybe it should!

All these high rise apartment complexes and homes coming into our city. Let’s forget the traffic problem, which is another sore topic. Let’s talk about the schools.

Add another couple hundred kids to any school, who pays for that? Us citizens who live here. It sure is not the carpet bagger developers who come from another state, make their money and walk away.

So let’s tax more senior citizens, who have paid school taxes for the last 40-plus years.

I am not impressed with the city planning commission and/or city council so far. Seems like all they care about is getting more people in to raise taxes for the city. I do not see any planning being done for the increased traffic and larger schools and more taxes.

Big article the other day, going to conduct a new traffic study. What’s to study? More apartments, more homes, more kids in school = equals more traffic and bigger schools, which equals more taxes and frustration for its citizens. End of study!
