ROADWAY: City kicked asphalt

To the city of Coeur d’Alene:

Thank you for planning the Government Way Reconstruction Project! I had the opportunity to travel south on the newly completed roadway late last week and it was a marvelous ride. The extra lane in each direction and the new turn lanes make any journey a pleasure.

It used to be that when I drove to Coeur d’Alene from Hayden, I would take Fourth Street because at least I could maintain a consistent speed of 25 mph, especially going from Prairie Avenue to Hanley. Now, I will be sure to take Government Way.

City officials who start projects like these often get a lot of grief from citizens because of delays and closures. So — no complaints in this letter, only my praise and gratitude.
