COEUR d’ALENE — Things are going to be heating up at the Hagadone Event Center in January.

The 24-by-70-foot infinity pool will be turned into a steamy, colorful winter oasis where guests can shed their snowsuits and stave off winter's chill in toasty 104-degree waters during The Coeur d'Alene Resort's Hot Winter Nights.

"The Resort wanted to give guests another opportunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, especially while soaking in a warm lakeside pool," said Danielle Beaudine, director of marketing for The Resort. "Our guests and social media following is incredibly interested in this event."

During weekends in January, guests who stay at The Resort will have the option to add Hot Winter Nights passes for $10 per adult and $5 per child. Package deals start at $179.

Those who select this fun add-on will be shuttled to the event center free of charge to enjoy entertainment in and around the pool. Inside, guests will find cozy fireplaces, games, movies on a projector screen and food and drinks available for purchase, including fondue, s'mores, Japanese hibachi skewers and more.

Outside, the pool will be surrounded by heating tents and cocktail servers will be ready to deliver drinks right into the hands of those soaking in the fun. Warm towels and plush slippers and robes will be on hand to ensure the utmost comfort.

"When the heaters are on, it will be delicious," Beaudine said.

She said because the event is weather-dependent and requires a short walk down the path (with stairs) to the pool, people should keep in mind that it's not for the faint-hearted.

"It's definitely outdoor conditions, but it's an adventure, a polar plunge challenge," she said.

Since the pool is outside, precipitation will be a factor, but "the pool is so warm that the elements coming down are refreshing and add to the magic of the experience," Beaudine said.

Up to 1,000 lucky guests will be able to experience Hot Winter Nights. From 4 to 8 p.m., families will be encouraged to enjoy the infinity pool hot tub, then the music and party will crank up from 8 to 10 p.m. during the adult soak for those 21 and older.

"Just like our first Mac n' Cheese Festival last year that was highly attended, residents of North Idaho and Spokane are looking for a fun wintertime adventure/activity," Beaudine said.

Hot Winter Nights dates are: Jan. 3, 4 and 5; 11 and 12; 18, 19 and 20; and 25 and 26.
