William ‘Bill’ Loyd Tosh, 80

William “Bill” Loyd Tosh passed away Dec. 11, 2018, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, following a brief illness.

He was a very fun-loving man. He always had a way of bring a smile to your face.

Bill was born March 21, 1938, in Coeur d’Alene to Francis and Dortha (Wilbur) Tosh. Bill lived most of his life in the Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls areas, allowing him to have access to what he loved most — the great outdoors. He had several jobs working in the mining industry and Potlatch Lumber Mill. He retired from there after many years of service. He was the last employee to close the Coeur d’Alene site and transferred to Lewiston Pulp Mill, ending up in Post Falls at the particle board plant. He also served time in the Army.

Bill’s first marriage was to Marlene Kelly in 1956. They had two wonderful children, Jim and Bev. On Sept. 22, 1962, he married Julie Ann Fisher. They had two amazing boys, David and Chad.

Bill had many interests, as long as it involved being outdoors in nature. He was always planning a hunting, fishing or backpacking trip, which always involved his best friend of 70 years, Bob Foster. They were pretty much inseparable from the time they met.

In the early spring Bill would be found in the mountains, cutting trees and preparing for the next winter. In the late summer he enjoyed picking his favorite berries- huckleberries. In the fall he would be doing his favorite thing — hunting. Bill, along with Bob, often went to Alaska for several months in the summer to fish and visit with friends. Bill was known for getting the biggest, near-record size of any animal he went looking for.

He was a family man and enjoyed being with his wife, children and friends. They would often go to Emerald Creek to go dig for garnets. Other interests were snow skiing, football, collecting coins and going to bingo at the Post Falls Senior Center.

Bill is survived by his son, James “Jim” Tosh and his wife, Robin of Auburn, Wash.; daughter, Beverly “Bev” Warren and husband, Cork of Bellingham, Wash.; son, David Tosh and fiancé, Chris Sanders of Bayview, Idaho; son, Chad Tosh of Post Falls; and grandchildren, Sabrina, Isaac, Heather, Maranda and Max. He also had several great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

“We will miss you Dad. Thank you for all your unconditional love that you gave to us. Thank you for being a remarkable husband, father and friend to all who had the opportunity to cross paths with. Until we meet again …”

Bill’s children would also like to extend their extreme gratification to his oncologist, Dr. Gay, and his entire staff, along with the Schneidmiller Hospice House. What a remarkable team you all are.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
