COEUR d’ALENE — Emmitt Taylor III, a freshman from Lapwai High, scored a game-high 46 points, hitting a school-record 12 3-point field goals, powering North Idaho College to a 135-70 win over Fairchild Air Force Base on Tuesday at Rolly Williams Court.

NIC led 70-31 at halftime, shooting 62.5 percent (25 of 40) in the first half. Taylor’s 46 points were one off the school record set by RayQuan Evans in the Northwest Athletic Conference semifinals in March.

RayQuan Evans had 26 points and seven assists, James Carlson 13 points and six rebounds and Drew Sheridan 13 points and five rebounds for NIC (9-1), which competes in the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout at Mesa Community College Dec. 27-29. NIC opens against host Mesa on Dec. 27 at 6 p.m.

Keara Simpson and Anna Schrade had 14 points and eight rebounds each, Madison Lommen 12 points on 4-of-4 from beyond the 3-point line for NIC (4-1), which hosts Umpqua on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Rolly Williams Court.
