Reach for the star

| December 11, 2018 12:00 AM

Want the good news first? Of course you do.

The 2018 Press Christmas for All fundraising campaign is ahead of last year’s effort. By Dec. 11, 2017, CFA had hauled in $53,443. So far this year? Donors have really stepped up, contributing $60,022.

Now, here’s the rub. This year’s campaign is now past the halfway mark, but only a third of the $175,000 target has been raised.

Cause for concern? Maybe, or maybe not. It’s not unusual to see donations pick up steam the last week or so leading up to Christmas. Last year, for instance, it looked bleak until Anonymous in Athol and a few other generous benefactors came through just in time, ensuring we could put a shiny star atop the Christmas tree. That star signifies that the goal has been met.

Point is, why wait? Every gift, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated. And the sooner you give, the better the chances that every needy Kootenai County family will have a merry little Christmas.
