Slow first-quarter start dooms Vandals

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Idaho pulled within three points late in the game, but missed two shots in the final 15 seconds and fell to Wyoming 64-61 on Saturday at the Auditorium-Arena.

Mikayla Ferenz hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Idaho (3-5), and Taylor Pierce added 14. Natalie Klinker had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Vandals, Allison Kirby (Timberlake High) had three points and three rebounds, and Nina Carlson (Lake City) had three points, three rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal.

Taylor Rusk and Bailee Cotton each scored 13 points to lead Wyoming (6-2), which used a 13-0 run to build an 18-6 lead after one quarter.

Idaho returns to action Dec. 20 at Gonzaga.
