ENTITLED: No, we're not

| December 7, 2018 12:00 AM

It appears to me that we’ve become a nation of folks who, in many cases, expect the government to take care of our every need from the cradle to the grave without much energy from us except holding out our hands (palms up). The list of social services available to us is huge — and somewhere along the line, we began to look at them as entitlements. I was taught at a very young age that I am entitled to absolutely nothing that I didn’t work for. There ain’t no free lunch!

So, somehow politicians convinced us (and we also convinced ourselves), we were “entitled” to all sorts of goods and services, but only if THEY were voted into office could it happen — and they were, and it did. But at some point (very soon), we’ll become so deep in debt that all of the king’s horses and king’s men cannot put our beloved America back together again!

Obama racked up more debt than all of our past presidents combined — yeah, he says it was George Bush’s fault! What’s ironic is that Democrats, liberals and socialists (all lock-stepping together) are proposing even more entitlements — free college, health care, child care — you name it and you’ll get it.

But wait, the well IS dry, kinda like Venezuela — the perfect example of an ideal model of socialism. And just how is that working out?! But hey, cheer up, surely man-made global warming will put us out of our misery long before then. Ummm, fat chance of that!
