'Celtic Winter Celebration' concert Saturday at the JACC

| December 7, 2018 12:00 AM

“Honey Bee cross-pollinates the sweetness of folk with the sting of rock.”

That’s the description of Honey Bee Celtic Fusion, a musical duo — identical twins — scheduled to appear Saturday in Post Falls.

Deby Benton Grosjean and Pamela Benton will perform “Celtic Winter Celebration” at 3 p.m. at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 N. William St.

Deby is a Celtic fiddler who combines the precision of classical technique with the freedom of traditional music. Having studied orchestration at University of California Santa Cruz, Deby weaves her fiddle skills throughout varied ensemble settings. She has more than 40 recordings and is on faculty for Alasdair Fraser’s Scottish Fiddling School and his Sierra Fiddle Camp.

Pamela is a multi-instrumentalist recording artist and performs on electric violin and guitar throughout the Western United States and is a regional favorite. She played for more than 10 years at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Floating Stage.

Born on Christmas day, only nine minutes apart, the nurses wanted their parents to name the twins “Carol and Noel,” instead they were named “Deby” meaning “bee,” and “Pamela” meaning “honey.” Together, they are currently working on two recording projects. They published a music book, Fun Celtic Music Series with a companion CD. The twins are currently working on their next volume. HoneyBee performs for intimate concerts and larger festivals melding folk with rock, in songs and instrumentals.

Tickets in advance are $15 or $18 at the door. For tickets, visit www.thejacklincenter.org or call 208-457-8950.
