Cards breeze in tourney opener

SAN JOSE, Calif. — RayQuan Evans scored a game-high 22 points — one of six North Idaho College players in double figures — in a 108-47 win over tournament host San Jose City in the San Jose City tournament on Thursday night.

Freshman Emmitt Taylor III scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half for NIC, which led 54-16 at halftime.

Nate Pryor, Philip Malatare, Jaden Dewar and Jarod Greene also scored in double figures for NIC (7-0), which faces Monterey Peninsula today at 4 p.m.

Jared Bailey scored 18 points — all in the second half — for San Jose City.
