Post Falls second after Day 1 at Sidney tourney

SIDNEY, Mont. — After the first day of wrestling, Post Falls had 10 wrestlers advance in the championship bracket of the Sidney Invitational on Friday.

Post Falls, which has won the tournament two of the past three years, is tied for second with Bozeman with 51.5 points.

Roddy Romero (103 pounds), Lane Reardon (120), Isaac Jessen (126), Nicholas McLeod (132), A.J. De La Rosa (138), Ridge Lovett (145), Mathias De La Rosa (152), Tyler Morris (160), Wyatt Shelly (170) and Isaiah Laguna (205) going unbeaten to advance to the quarterfinals today.

Columbia High of Nampa leads with 63 points.

PABLO, Mont. — Caden Hess (113 pounds), Seth Nutting (160) and Owen Hughes (285) of Lake City advanced to the semifinals of the Owen Invitational (formerly the Polson Invitational).

Nutting won all three of his matches by pin on Friday. All Timberwolves entered are still alive in the tourney, which marks the season opener for Lake City.

“Seth, he just wrestled great today,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “We wrestled hard today ... I was impressed with our effort.”
