RESPONSE: Hearn asked for it

Regarding Steve Cameron’s column about Tom Hearn, Tom signed up for his job. Don’t whine for him. His position is a no win situation as long as the Idaho Legislature will not fund public education, as they are mandated to do.

“It’s all about the kids” has been the best tool to get local school districts to grab our money above and beyond the state tax level. The 271 district board, like all other government, continues to build their empire with our tax dollars. They speculate on property they purchase; anyone remember Thomas Lane? They have a central office which is very nice, schools that are constantly updated and maintained, new student programs and KTEC.

Don’t whine for Tom. He has a lake home. Oh yeah, Tom, how is the $1,000,000 for school bus seat belts going?
