COEUR d’ALENE — What they couldn’t do in the first half, the Coeur d’Alene Vikings did in the second half, and often.
Erika Skindlov recorded a hat trick — all in the second half — as the Vikings scored six unanswered goals in the second half of a 8-2 win over the Hillcrest Knights of Ammon in the season opener for both schools on Friday at Coeur d’Alene High.
“We had a lot of opportunities in the first half, but couldn’t get it in the back of the net,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “We just started finishing our chances in the second half. We still have a lot of work to do, but it was a good showing for our first game.”
Zoe Cox had two goals and Sarah Swider three assists for Coeur d’Alene, which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.
