David Forrest Shardlow, 87
David Forrest Shardlow, 87, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Aug. 10, 2018, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. David was born on Aug. 13, 1930, in Spokane, Wash., to Frederick and Esther Shardlow.
After high school, David served in the Army for four years, with much of that time stationed in Germany. He then went to Washington State University to study engineering and there met the love of his life, Sandra Maidment. They were married in Spokane on Sept. 17, 1955, and shortly after had their son, Rick Shardlow. They later moved to Moscow, Idaho, where David worked as a construction superintendent, and their retirement years brought them to the Coeur d’Alene area.
David enjoyed fishing, whether it be fly fishing, trolling, or baitcasting, and in retirement, he loved driving his horses with the Selkirk Driving Club. For over 25 years, his vacations and holidays were spent enjoying time with family and friends at Lake Mary Ronan, Mont.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra who passed earlier this year; and his sister, Gail Morrow. He is survived by his sister, Madge Watson (Richland, Wash.); his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Susan Shardlow (Post Falls, Idaho); his two grandchildren, Eric Shardlow (Spokane, Wash.) and Mackenzie Jeffress (Spring Creek, Nev.); and his great-granddaughter, Molly Jeffress.
David was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. A hosted remembrance for both him and Sandra is planned from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Red Lion Templin’s on the River, 414 E. First Ave., Post Falls, Idaho. Please come to the gathering to share memories and stories with family and friends.
