Shirley Nuttelman

Shirley Nuttelman passed away peacefully and stepped into Heaven on Aug. 3, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Shirley was born to Cecil and Christine Hinkle and raised in Spokane, Wash. She graduated from North Central High School where she was active in Student Council and the Red Feathers Dance Team. Shirley attended college and was employed at the Medical Service Bureau of Spokane. Shirley married Robert Nuttelman of Coeur d’Alene, and together they raised two children, Nancy and Bob.

Shirley especially enjoyed her job as a school secretary in the Coeur d’Alene School District. She loved assisting principals, teachers, staff, students, and their parents for twenty years at Sherman, Winton, District Developmental Center (DDC) Kindergarten, Borah and Coeur d’Alene High School. She also instructed exercise classes at North Idaho College and for Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls Recreation Departments.

Shirley’s passions were her faith, family, and friends. She was the number one fan of her children’s and grandsons’ school, sports, and musical activities. She enjoyed sharing memories with retired school secretaries at their monthly luncheons, and always remembering family and friends with greeting cards and by baking sweet treats. Traveling, camping, and fishing with her family, gardening, art work, and watching Gonzaga basketball and the Seattle Mariners brought her much joy.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Donna, three brothers-in-law, and two nieces.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Nancy (Mike); son, Bob (Mary); grandsons, Mark and Matthew; her special cousin, Dorothy; sisters-in-law, Bea and Laura May; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who all loved her and will miss her presence in their lives.

The family would like to thank The Garden at Orchard Ridge and Hospice of North Idaho for their care of Shirley.

The memorial service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018 at the Hagadone Event Center, Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, 900 S. Floating Green Drive, Coeur d’Alene.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shirley Nuttelman Band Music Memorial Fund, Coeur d’Alene High School Band Music Department, 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815, to Real Life Ministries Sports and Outdoors in memory of Shirley Nuttelman, Real Life Ministries, 1860 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls, ID 83854, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
