Cooper Smith

Coeur d’Alene

Smith, a first baseman, went 5 for 13 with seven runs batted in and five runs scored for the Coeur d’Alene Little League Majors team in last week’s Northwest Regional tournament in San Bernardino, Calif. Coeur d’Alene beat Billings, Mont., 2-0 in the regional title game on Saturday to advance to the Little League World Series. “Smitty is a yeoman, and very serious when he goes to practice,” Coeur d’Alene coach Sean Cherry said. “He’s a very disciplined player and when you need to tweek him, he doesn’t fight us. He’s a joy to coach.”
