Tenth-inning outburst sparks Indians
BOISE — Tyler Depreta-Johnson’s RBI double in the 10th inning put Spokane ahead for good, and the Indians’ bullpen shut down the Hawks in the bottom of the 10th, giving Spokane a 6-3 victory Monday night before 2,781 fans at Memorial Stadium in Boise.
Minor league baseball rules meant Troy Dixon — the final Spokane out of the ninth inning — began the 10th on second base, and he scored easily on Depreta-Johnson’s double. An error and sacrifice fly gave the Indians (26-30, 10-8 second half) a three-run cushion, and Wes Robertson completed two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
Spokane’s Diosbel Arias went 4-for-4 with two walks and a run scored, and an eighth-inning double by Starling Joseph scored Depreta-Johnson in the top of the eighth, tying the game at 3.
The Indians won three games of the five-game series in Boise, and return home tonight for a 6:30 matchup with Everett.
