TAX AIDE: Thank you to all

| April 29, 2018 1:00 AM

This year, IRS certified Tax Aide volunteers provided FREE income tax assistance to 5,800 taxpayers in Kootenai and Shoshone counties from Feb. 1 to April 14.

Thank you to Athol Community Center, Rathdrum Senior Center, Post Falls Senior Center, Lake City Center, Health & Human Services in Kellogg and Silver Lake Mall for hosting tax assistance sites. These donated sites make the tax assistance program possible, where we completed and e-filed more than 5,300 returns. Lake City Center provided utilities from Avista at Silver Lake Mall. Allegra Print provided posters. Our volunteers contributed more than 16,200 hours during training and tax assistance. A final thank you to taxpayers for “hanging in there” with us during long waits and a few software issues during the season.

Thanks goes to Bob Bossi and our team of Electronic Return Originators for their time, effort and follow-up while e-filing returns for Tax Aide this year.

Each year, Tax Aide provides FREE assistance to 2.9 million low to moderate income and elderly taxpayers nationally. This past season, returns prepared by Tax Aide locally brought to Kootenai and Shoshone County taxpayers more than $3.5 million in Federal and State refunds, including the Idaho grocery credit.

Tax Aide is sponsored by AARP Foundation in cooperation with IRS.

THANK YOU to our taxpayers, sponsors and volunteers.
