St. Maries finishes 6-0 run through CIL

GRANGEVILLE — The St. Maries Lumberjacks totaled 44 runs on 43 hits and wrapped up a perfect Central Idaho League softball season by sweeping the Grangeville Bulldogs 31-9 and 13-1 on Saturday.

In the first game, McKenna Borgman doubled and tripled and drove in five runs, part of a 5-for-6 game with four runs scored for St. Maries (10-0, 6-0 CIL). Devyn Wilson was 5 for 5 with four RBIs and five runs scored, Amber Rose Walrod was 4 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs, and Paige Sines was 4 for 6 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Wilson struck out nine in the second game for the Lumberjacks. She also hit a three-run homer in the first inning and finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

St. Maries is scheduled to play host to Kendrick on Tuesday.

LEWISTON — The host Bengals swept the Vikings in 5A Inland Empire League softball at Airport Park.

No details were reported.

In defeat Coeur d’Alene coach Lindsie Scholwinski praised the play of Betty Comack, Hailey Lyons and Rebekah West.

The Vikings fell to 5-15, 3-7 5A IEL.

“We didn’t come out to play today,” Scholwinski said. We have a lot to accomplish as a team in the next few days. We have to prove ourselves.”

Lewiston is 5-5 and in second place in league, behind league champion Lake City (16-3, 9-1). Coeur d’Alene is tied for third with Post Falls (9-10, 3-7).

Coeur d’Alene travels to Lake City on Tuesday for a doubleheader to wrap up league play.

Post Falls visits Lewiston on Tuesday in a league finale doubleheader.

Timberlake 19-17

Priest River 2-13

SPIRIT LAKE — Shelby Starr hit a three-run homer in an eight-run first inning in the first game, and the Tigers went on to sweep the Spartans in Intermountain League play.

Starr finished 3 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the opener for Timberlake (11-2, 6-2 IML). Jaycee Jerome was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the second game, Brooke Jessen hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to break a 13-all tie for Timberlake. Jessen also hit a two-run double in the sixth, and finished with five RBIs. Kyndal Lindley went 3 for 4 and scored four runs for the Tigers, who led 10-0 after a 10-run top of the second inning.

Jasmine Martin hit an RBI single and a two-run single in an 11-run third inning for Priest River.

Kiernan Hegel hit a solo homer in the sixth for the Spartans, and finished 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Timberlake was the visiting team despite playing on its home field, after the earlier meeting with the Spartans was moved to Priest River.

Timberlake wraps up the regular season Tuesday at home against IML-leading Bonners Ferry.
