T-Wolves, Trojans split twinbill

COEUR d’ALENE — Bubba Gleaves hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and Kaycie Barber hit a leadoff home run in the third inning to send the Post Falls Trojans past the Lake City Timberwolves 10-5 in the first game of a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader at Lake City High on Friday.

Jalyssa Beamer drove in three runs in the first game for Lake City.

In the nightcap, Reilly Williams had four hits and both Emma Gray and Abby Jankay homered to send the Timberwolves past the Trojans 13-6 to get the split.

“Post Falls jumped on us early and took advantage of some mistakes,” Lake City coach Jesse Lenz said. “I think the adversity we experienced today will go a long way in the postseason.

On Tuesday, Lake City (16-3, 9-1 5A IEL) hosts Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls (9-10, 3-7) travels to Lewiston.

SANDPOINT — Riley Rivera hit a three-run home run, her third against Sandpoint this season, to push the Hawks past the Bulldogs in the first game of a 4A Inland Empire League twinbill at Sandpoint Middle School.

Allison Russum hit a two-run homer in the first game and Haley Shields finished with two runs scored and two RBIs for Lakeland.

Lakeland (6-13, 4-2 4A IEL) travels to Moscow on Tuesday.

Sandpoint is 7-8, 6-2.
