Rose Marie Virginia Allan, 88

Rose Marie Virginia Allan’s angels guided her to Heaven on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was 88 years old.

Her husband, Murray Allan, survives the only child of Albert and Phyllis Lugo. They were married 68 years and remained the best of friends throughout. Her children, Scott, Bonnie and Michael also survive her; as well as her grandchildren, Christopher, Byron and Kendra; and great-grandchildren Justus, Crew, Cade, Teagan, Shea-Shea and Gavin.

Born in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1929, Rose Marie enjoyed a vibrant and full life. After graduating high school she became an ice dancer with Frosty Frolics, and appeared on several old TV shows and movies with Carol Burnett, Doris Day, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin and Wayne Newton, whom she became good friends with while becoming his wardrobe designer. She was also a costume designer on the classic movie, “Camelot.”

Her great-great grandparents, on her mother’s side, were a Count and Countess from Florence, Italy, and she definitely held herself to that royalty class throughout her entire life.

Being quite the character with a huge heart, she made an impression on everyone she met, as she opened her door to many in need, including any and all animals needing a home.

Their retirement years brought them to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1986, where later in life she enjoyed gardening and cooking, but was especially well known for her antics (ice skating on the frozen rooftop of the Empire State Building one winter was among the crazier things she did in her life), as well as all the stories of her old days, including her old relatives and friends, and their adventures that took them from country to country.

Throughout her life, Rose Marie was a woman of God and was constantly praying for anyone in need. She was indeed our backbone, loved by all, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She now joins her daughter, Kelly, in Heaven.

There will be a viewing from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home-Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St. The graveside service is 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at St. Thomas Cemetery, 115 S. 23rd Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
