A good day for Lake City

| April 28, 2018 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Bennett Cunningham drove in four runs, Kodie Kolden went 5 for 5 with four runs scored and three RBIs and Lake City used a five-run bottom of the second inning to push past the Post Falls Trojans 14-4 in the first game of a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader at Lake City High on Friday.

Zach Sensel had three hits and two RBIs and Kyle Manzardo scored two runs for Lake City in the opener.

“We had really good approaches at the plate,” Lake City coach Paul Manzardo said. “From 1-to-9, we played extremely well. We just executed when we needed to. Both Kodie and Kyle had good days offensively. Zach had a great day and really made the play of the game on a diving catch to get a double play (in the second inning). That was a big play for us.”

In the nightcap, Kyle Manzardo struck out six in a complete game win for Lake City (16-3, 7-3 5A IEL), which travels to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

Tanner McCliment-Call had an RBI in the second game for Post Falls (10-10, 5-3), which travels to Lewiston on Tuesday.
