Malcolm shines for Post Falls on senior day

POST FALLS — Senior Mykie Malcolm went 3 for 3 with three runs scored for the Post Falls Trojans in a 16-0 win over the Lakeland Hawks on senior day at Post Falls High.

“Mykie hadn’t had an at-bat all year and played great today,” Post Falls coach Holly Gleaves said. “Everyone had a really good game. We played good defense, ran the bases well and had really good at-bats.”

Amanda Rouse struck out nine and Bubba Gleaves went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored for Post Falls (8-9), which travels to Lake City for a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader today.

Lakeland (5-12) travels to Sandpoint today for a 4A IEL doubleheader at 2 p.m.

PRIEST RIVER — Kaylee Auer went 7 for 9 with three RBIs and five runs scored as the visiting Lumberjacks swept the Spartans in nonleague play.

In the opener, Devyn Wilson went 3 for 5 and drove in three runs for St. Maries, Paige Sines went 2 for 4 with a two-run triple, three RBIs and two runs, and Auer was 4 for 5 and scored twice.

Emma Johnson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored in the first game for Priest River.

In the second game, Auer was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Elizabeth Ragan went 2 for 4 and drove in four runs, and Lauryn Hill was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs.

St. Maries plays host to Orofino today at 4 in Central Idaho League play.

Schultz shines in

Wallace 9-hole match

BIG CREEK — Genesis Prep’s Jacob Schultz shot an even-par 36 to claim boys medalist honors at a 9-hole match hosted by Wallace at Shoshone Golf Course.

Wallace won the boys team title with a 192, followed by St. Maries with a 205.

Lakeside’s Brooklyn Marchand and St. Maries’ Tabitha Boller tied for girls medalist honors, each shooting 50.

Lakeside topped St. Maries by four strokes, 216-220, for the girls team title.
