Bonnie Evelyn Sanders Standahl

March 5, 1920 – April 24, 2018

Bonnie Evelyn Standahl, 98, passed away April 24, 2018, at the Allenmore Hospital, in Tacoma, Wash. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, at English Funeral Chapel and interment will be at Forest Cemetery.

Bonnie was born to William A. Sanders and Ruby (Moe) Sanders in Harrison, Idaho, on March 5, 1920. Bonnie was the first of three children. Bonnie’s sisters, Carol, was born in 1922 and Merle, in 1930. In 1921, William and Ruby bought a farm near Medimont, Idaho. Bonnie graduated from Rose Lake High School in 1938. She later attended Coeur d’Alene Junior College. She received a teaching certificate from Lewiston Normal school and a bachelor’s degree from Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. Bonnie taught at various schools in Kootenai, Shoshone and Benewah Counties until 1952.

In June of 1952, Bonnie married Harold Standahl of Coeur d’Alene. Bonnie lived on Pine Avenue with her family from 1952 until 1994. In 1994, she moved to Leisure Park in Hayden, Idaho. In 2006, Bonnie moved to Maple Valley, Wash., to be closer to her son’s family. Bonnie is survived by her son, Jon Standahl (Kamilla) of Santa Clara, Calif. and son David Standahl (Phyllis) and granddaughter, Kirsten of Maple Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and sisters, Carol Millard and Merle Kelso.
